About us

The New Homes Quality Board (NHQB) is an independent not-for-profit organisation, established to develop and implement a framework that oversees the quality of new homes and customer service provided by developers in the UK.

Our framework aims to ensure consistently high standards of new home quality and service, improve developer behaviour, and provide compensation for buyers if these standards are not met.

Our board comprises of representatives from consumer bodies, developers, providers of new home warranties, the lending industry, Homes England, and other independent entities.

We are also responsible for;

  • Overseeing the independent New Homes Ombudsman Service.
  • Providing support and information to consumers and the industry.
  • Holding the register of developers of new build homes.
  • Collecting an annual registration fee from developers to fund the new arrangements.
  • Disciplining and sanctioning poorly performing developers.
  • Reporting and publishing details on industry performance.
